Last week was a traveling show of wands, wands, wands! A major arcana of change shining down upon the days with unprecedented light and a renewed sense of purpose. A mouthful, eh? You bet! And, if I was a betting (wo)man my pentacles would be on the light!
What do I mean by all that? It’s time to break it down.
For this discussion a class reunion equates simply to “reunion,” which, for me, expands beyond the class and into the “class collective” of all; a unification of co-creative resources, or at least those that bubble around me. Then there’s passion, purpose, communication, and renewal exchanged one grain of love at a time.
REUNION
I’ve been through the wash and thrown into the dryer of possibilities, cleansed and cooled by a unified whole known as the “class reunion.” For three days I traveled back in time, 40 years, to a place of my past. High school. A quaint collection of fellow friends gathered at an infamous, local pizza joint for food, fanfare and laughter. For several hours I walked table to table learning the outcome of the lives of those I once rode the school bus with for nearly an hour each way just to slam shut lockers and write my first name next to that of my latest crush.
Reflection offered a synergy of thought allowing me to sense the value had in these barbecued pizza slices of life… a unity of consciousness between once-upon-a-time young, carefree souls. A collective as strong as any. One that divined faith in the idea that we remain connected, always, and in that connection one may find oneself as a member of the greater whole. In other words, our small group of 58 year old bulbs fell easily back into alignment as we joined together to illuminate a string of harmony and lightness of purpose while awaiting a seat at the big boys table of greater knowing.

PASSION
This reunion burned with the passion of reconnection, warming hearts and heightening sensibilities. Emotions were palpable and ran the gamut from uncontrollable laughter to tears of sadness for those who have transitioned on to the next.
My sides hurt from cracking up and all the stories and silly jokes. My friend, Rhea, and I even let go of fear and agreed to be photographed making stupid faces simply because a classmate asked. It was so much fun. Yet, the driving force – the passion of purpose – drove us to share secrets, the truths and the lies of yesteryear we never thought we would. A passion-driven cleansing that drilled down deeply into the recesses of our core.
Passion is often misunderstood; lumped in with, and limited by the concept of sex. Sure passion is a key ingredient therein, tho it doesn’t stop there, at least with creatives like those at my class reunion. It is what moves us, inspires us, makes us want to press on; its flavor deliciously distinct in the consumption. Passion is renewal!
PURPOSE
The gathering inoculated us all with a shot of purpose revitalized, one mirrored in the actions of a small goat I met at a petting zoo incorporated into the experience at Jacob’s Orchard in New Castle, Indiana.
This little slugger ba-a-a-aaa-ated a .400 when it came to passion of purpose. Determined in its strong desire for a stroke and a cuddle this zebra colored goat was led to defeat the odds and push it’s head through to the other side of the wire fence. Crowned with long, curved horns, its noggin twisted and turned as it poked and prodded past the unpassable!
Success was had, however, at the expense of initial comfort, and one that rendered a position of placement not expected. In other words, its head got stuck! Yet, I could tell the little guy would have done it all again, allowing his head to get caught in a position of semi-permanence, just for that moment of touch. It was purposed and relentless, and it worked! A result not lost on this old gal.

COMMUNICATION
Another of the wands suited for my reunion pleasure was that of communication. All sorts of communication! The obvious is that shared with my fellow classmates; the simply wonderful back and forth of thought and feeling formed in the spoken word. Yet, there was more… so much more!
Friday morning, around 10 a.m. EST US I walked into my girlfriend’s home after breakfasting at Mrs. Wick’s, the makers of one-of-a-kind sugar cream pie. My absolute favorite! A dessert native and nearly exclusive to the state of Indiana. Coming in from the garage, through the expansive, country kitchen and into the living room I saw the most beautiful beam of light streaming in from a foyer skylight. It spotlighted an armchair as if awaiting the entertainment to take stage.
This was significant to me in that I had an experience once in Tucson, AZ where a beam of light pierced through the night sky from points unknown in response to my request for communication. Without going into detail, suffice it to say I got what I asked for. Now this sibling beam – a reminder of all that is and a further symbol of communication available to us all above 3D.
Then came the Pièce De Résistance! An anomaly in the night sky on the evening after the reunion deunioned. A pin of light darted up, down, left right in a pattern unattainable in known reality. I noticed it first and showed my friends, who, in turn, were blown away at the oddity. We felt the message – one available to those ready to receive, “you are part of something much bigger than yourself.” And we were… are… will always be.
RENEWAL
Then came the calm, the peaceful, resolute state of renewal. It arrived in the form of experience complete – a reunion of friends. So, I crated up the old and shipped it off to storage for another lifetime, leaving the freshness of this new feeling of self.
I journeyed further back, to 1937, as my friends dropped me off in front of the Statue of Beneficence, Benny for short, along the crest of Ball State University’s Administration building, and the Greyhound bus stop. The ride enabled a review of the akashic of days now done to glean what nuggets of knowledge I could as written into its records of my human life this go-around. I studied the pages on the shelves of this Universal library of everything, shuffled, sorted and reshelved the books, wise to the revision made. In other words, I digested my reunion experience and thought about what I learned. Renewal. The past had refreshed the future and I was happy knowing I came from such strong stock – ready to move forward into my infinite tomorrow.
I am a country girl, citified by time and experience, and the time had arrived for me to remember where I came from. I did – and the picture painted was one I was proud of. It’s that farmer’s spirit which resides within me, even today, sandwiched between slices of its opposite. A life. A great life! My life, reunited with self thanks to the reunion of passion, purpose, and communication leading to a renewal of self and of soul.
